Ad Quintum, the alternative ancient complex to visit

The National Institute of Cultural Heritage (NICH) brings into focus Cultural Monuments as a reminder of the wonderful values of Albanian cultural heritage and why not as a different alternative to spend the weekend visiting them.

NICH brings to attention Ad Quintum, a road station along the Via Egnatia.

Ad Quintum is an architectural complex consisting of nymphaeum and thermae, built in the 2nd century and used as a way station along the Egnatia Route. Road stations were resting places for travelers or merchants to stop for the night.

Ad Quintum ancient route station is on the right side of the Elbasan-Durrës national road, by Bradashesh.

It has a rectangular layout, with an area of 130 square meters, with the dressing room, warm facility, hot facility, and cold-water facility. The dressing room, which was situated in the interior served to connect the facilities. Water was supplied by means of canals from a deposit on the wall of the nymphaeum and ran through another system of canals.
