Albania and Kosova Strengthen Cooperation in Tax Administration

TIRANA, January 13 – Staff from the Albanian and Kosovan Tax Administrations held a joint working meeting to discuss key issues in modernizing tax administration and strengthening interinstitutional cooperation between the two countries.
Officials focused on fiscalization, digitalization processes, risk assessment, tax investigations, and measures to combat tax evasion. They exchanged experiences and best practices to improve control efficiency and enhance services for taxpayers.
Representatives from both administrations emphasized the importance of continuous and coordinated cooperation. They noted that rapid technological developments and the need to align with international standards make collaboration essential.
Officials said this exchange of practices aims to strengthen institutional capacities, ensure stable tax administration, and increase transparency. They added that cooperation between Albania and Kosova in taxation supports the government’s major objective of European integration.
Authorities also highlighted that harmonizing fiscal policies and procedures with European Union standards remains a priority. They said the meeting marked a significant step toward deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing reforms for a modern, efficient, and reliable tax administration.
