Albanian national team forward Mirlind Daku says Albania aims to finish first in its Nations League group and keep its route to Euro 2028 qualification open. Speaking ahead of the team’s upcoming matches, Daku said winning the four games remains the priority. He added that goals are secondary for forwards. Daku also welcomed competition from younger players who have made a strong start to the season.

The forward said Albania’s objective is clear. He noted that the Nations League offers a route towards Euro 2028 qualification. Albania must first finish top of the group before playing two further matches that he described as finals. Daku also said he is fully fit and ready to play despite limited minutes at his new club in Russia. He said the lack of playing time results from the coach’s decision, not an injury.

Daku also praised new Albania coach Rolando Maran. He said Maran has made every player feel important within the national team. The forward added that this approach has made him feel more comfortable in the squad.

Albania will face Belarus on September 26 at 20:45 in the Nations League.
