Albania-Greece, cooperation for the creation of the cross-border park Vjosa-Aoos

The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, following her visit to Athens, held a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, together with Deputy Minister Giorgos Amiras.
Kumbaro said on social networks that the focus of this meeting was the declaration of Vjosa National Park and the cooperation to create the cross-border park Vjosa-Aoos.
The creation of this cross-border park, according to the minister, would thus give complete protection to 272 kilometers of the river from its source in the Pindis mountains in Greece to its estuary on our Adriatic coast.
She said that, “this is a unique model of biodiversity conservation, undoubtedly a symbol of good neighborliness between our countries, with joint promotion and at the same time with opportunities for sustainable tourism”.
Kumbaro emphasized that, “within the next few weeks we will formalize the start of this initiative through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries and establish the joint working group for the management plan and the declaration of the first cross-border Park of the last wild river in Europe” .
