The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports is taking a new approach to revitalizing traditional towers. It treats them not only as cultural monuments but also as functional, vibrant spaces integrated into the tourism, cultural, and economic development of their regions.

The program collaborates with GIZ Albania and covers the counties of Dibër, Kukës, Shkodër, and Lezhë. Its goal is to transform towers into guesthouses, cultural centers, local museums, and educational points. These sites will form part of tourist routes that offer authentic experiences for both domestic and international visitors.

The Ministry emphasizes that this initiative will help preserve heritage, strengthen local identity, and create new opportunities for sustainable development in the communities.

To support the program, the Ministry has prepared an informative questionnaire. It gathers data on the physical and functional state of the towers, their history and architectural features, cultural practices linked to the towers, and their tourism potential and legal status.

Collected data will serve as the foundation for designing an integrated program to restore and promote the towers as valuable cultural heritage.
