Albania Launches Public Consultation on National Artificial Intelligence Strategy

Today, Albania held its first online public consultation for the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy. The meeting marked a key step in shaping the country’s digital future.

Linda Karçanaj, Director of the National Agency for Information Society (NAIS), introduced the strategy. She noted that the World Bank and other international partners supported its development. This partnership brought global experience and expertise.

According to Karçanaj, Albania has now entered a critical phase of technological growth. She stated that, in the coming years, AI will raise standards in key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, and the environment.

During the consultation, NAIS shared the strategy’s core principles. These include ethics, transparency, data protection, inclusion, and alignment with the European Union framework.

Furthermore, Karçanaj outlined the benefits of the strategy. It aims to deliver faster and simpler public services. It will increase transparency and trust through data-based decisions. It will attract both local and foreign investment. It will also support economic growth and create new jobs.

In addition, the strategy encourages innovation in science, education, and industry. It supports open data use and strengthens human capacities. It also promotes scientific research.

Importantly, the strategy aligns with EU standards. Through the adoption of the EU AI Act and related guidelines, Albania becomes a reliable digital partner for the European market.

In conclusion, Karçanaj described the strategy as a major step. It moves Albania closer to a sustainable, trustworthy, and citizen-focused digital economy.
