The new Traffic Control Center marks a major step for urban traffic management and road safety. It uses advanced technology for monitoring, analysis, and immediate response. The center coordinates road networks and helps reduce delays and accidents.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku visited the center today in Kamza. Rama called it a long-awaited innovation. He emphasized its link to the “Smart City” project. The center will ensure 24/7 monitoring and coordination between Traffic Police, Emergency Medical Services, and Civil Protection.

“Today begins a new chapter in territory management and citizen assistance,” Rama said. He stressed the need to unify all emergency calls into one system.

Rama added that smart cameras and artificial intelligence will provide real-time data. Police will no longer need to wait on roadsides but will respond instantly through virtual alerts.

Balluku said the center will operate with 122 staff members. Currently, 200 km of main highways are connected, including Tirana–Durrës and Fier–Vlorë. The goal is to cover 3,650 km of roads managed by the Albanian Road Authority.

The Ministries of Defense, Interior, and Health also signed a cooperation agreement. The aim is joint management of territory and full-level citizen assistance.
