Albania will host the NATO Summit in 2027. It will be the first time the event takes place in the Western Balkans.

At the 70th anniversary of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali welcomed the decision. She said it reflects NATO’s long-term engagement in the region.

She stressed Albania’s commitment to the Alliance. The government has met the 2% defense spending target. It also supports the new 3.5% investment for core defense and 1.5% for other security fields.

Moreover, Albania is upgrading its Armed Forces. It is building key NATO infrastructure, including the Kuçova Air Base, which is turning into a regional hub.

Spiropali called for stronger coordination within the Assembly. She urged members to share best practices, counter disinformation, and strengthen public trust.

According to her, NATO must remain united, capable, and adaptable. She concluded by underlining that unity is the Alliance’s greatest strength and must not be taken for granted.
