The year 2022 was an important year for the Institute of Archeology and impressive archaeological discoveries, which shed light on the early settlements in the Albanian territories.

The director of the Institute of Archaeology, professor Belisa Muka, says that with dozens of national and nationwide projects and collaborations with parallel institutes even across the ocean, they brought important developments in the field of Albanian archaeology.

Professor Muka also shows some of the projects for the year that has just started. Among the priorities will be new excavations, old excavations as well, as well as a series of scientific conferences.

Some of the most important discoveries of the year we are leaving behind are considered among the most exciting discoveries of Albanian art and archeology where we can single out the residence of the “palaf”, which according to archaeologists dates back 7500 years ago and is located in the village of Buqezë of Lini village, the restart of archaeological excavations in the valley of Mati, excavations in the plain of Byline civilizations, in Apolloni, Finiq and Bylis.
