TIRANA, February 9 – Albanian culture headlines events in Chambéry, France, with 45 artworks from Korçë Museum

Albania and its culture will be the focus of Chambéry’s cultural life in 2026.

The cities of Chambéry and Korça established a partnership in 2022. As a result, they organized a program highlighting Albanian culture, arts, music, and literature.

A key event will be the exhibition “Icons of Albania.” It will run from May to November at the Chambéry Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition will feature 45 works from Albania’s national heritage, dating from the 14th to the 20th century, from the Korça Museum of Medieval Art.

Other events will include conferences for Europe Month. Albanian participation will continue at the Continents Market. Artists and folklore groups from Korça will perform at the World Cultures Festival. In addition, artistic and theatrical projects will involve young people and professionals from both countries.

Korça has a strong historical link with France. Known as the “Little Paris” for its Francophone past, the city is recognized for its cultural tradition, architecture, and role in Albania’s national awakening.

Between the two world wars, the French Lyceum in Korça educated Albania’s intellectual and cultural elite. Its legacy will continue with the opening of the new Franco-Albanian Lyceum, a joint project focusing on science and the future.
