“Albanian language, from the alphabet to the orthography” is the documentary and photographic exhibition exhibition opened in Korca on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Orthography Congress. The exhibition prepared with the documents of the Central State Archive outlines the journey and efforts for the unification of the alphabet (November 14-22, 1908) towards the adoption of the spelling rules of the Albanian language (November 20-25, 1972). The exhibited materials build a binary narrative, based on historical documents of the decisions of the respective congresses and photos of figures with a prominent role in the early works on the “ABC” issue.

 In his speech to the media, General Director of the DPA Bido expressed his gratitude for the cooperation with local institutions and underlined that this interaction is necessary for the unfolding of the national identity. He announced that this exhibition, first presented in Korça, will be presented again by the Academy of Sciences of Albania, together with the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, as well as by the Prime Minister.

 “It is a pleasure that we start from Korça the journey of one of the 6 exhibitions prepared for the month of November”, explained Bido. The activity continued with the holding of a round table on the topic “Trends of the standard through the lens of today’s language developments”.
