The painter and graphic artist Bujar Zajmi, who passed away at the age of 83, will be sent to his last home this Tuesday. The artist who chose to go quietly left behind a collection of over 7,000 works created over 7 decades that are still waiting to be discovered.

Bujar Zajmi was born in Tirana, on July 7, 1939. He is a well-known Albanian painter. He started visual art in 1956, with drawings and paintings together, and he completed his higher studies in graphics at the University of Leipzig in Germany. He is known as a film painter and a cultivator of the comic and the national in his painting. He has also opened the Exhibition dedicated to old Tirana with 65 works of the author, mainly in oil on canvas technique.

Zajmi’s creativity spans almost 6 decades and the most recent moment of exposure through 100 works was marked in July of this year with “Bzan me diellin” in the Gallery of Tirana, under the curatorial care of Anila Zajmi’s daughter.
