TIRANA, July 14 – Albanian theatre and comedy have lost actor Todi Llupi, who died at the age of 78. He was one of the most recognised figures of Fier’s professional comedy scene and the “Bylis” Theatre.

The Directorate of Art, Culture and Tourism of Fier Municipality announced his death. The institution expressed condolences to his family, friends and the artistic community.

Born in Fier on March 1, 1948, Llupi dedicated his life to the stage from 1971, when he began working as a professional actor at the Fier Professional Theatre Company. Throughout his career, he performed hundreds of roles in comedies, sketches, parodies, couplets, monologues and pantomimes.

Meanwhile, Llupi became known for his distinctive acting style, popular humour and masterful use of the Myzeqe dialect. Audiences also appreciated his characteristic tenor voice, especially in his performances as a couplet performer and parodist.

Over the decades, he created memorable characters that became part of Fier’s cultural identity. His artistic work contributed to the tradition of Albanian stage comedy and helped preserve the local humour and performance style.

Llupi remained closely connected with the Fier artistic community, where he was considered one of the leading representatives of the city’s theatre heritage.
