The Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation commemorated the renowned actor Albert Vërria on his birthday today, sharing a passage from the film Kapedani in tribute. In their dedication, MEKI wrote: “A great actor of dozens of roles in Albanian cinema, which today remain among the favorites of all cinema enthusiasts.”

Born in Fier on September 3, 1936, and passing away in Vlorë on August 17, 2015, Albert Vërria initially worked as an agricultural technician after completing agricultural high school (1956–1959). He graduated from the “Aleksandër Moisiu” Academy for acting (1959–1963) and began his acting career at the Vlorë Theater in 1963.

At the Vlorë Theater, Vërria performed in over 90 roles, notably as Veip in Familja e Peshkatarit (The Fisherman’s Family). Known for his skill in portraying diverse characters, Vërria starred in over 40 film roles, including the memorable xha Sulo in Kapedani and Nuri Beu in Koncert në vitin 36 (Concert in the Year ’36), roles that are etched into the collective memory of the Albanian public. In 1979, he was awarded the title “Artist of the People.”
