Albin Kurti’s Sarajevo Visit Strengthens Kosovo-Bosnia Relations

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, visited Sarajevo for a two-day trip, where he met with the Bosnian Presidency members Željko Komšić (Croatian) and Denis Bećirović (Bosniak). During the visit, Kurti was praised by Komšić for Kosovo’s decision to lift the visa regime for Bosnian citizens, which is seen as a significant step in strengthening ties and trade between the two countries.
Kurti also participated in a regional relations conference organized by the “Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99.” However, he did not meet with Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member of the Bosnian Presidency.
The visit sparked opposition from Milorad Dodik, the leader of Republika Srpska (RS), who criticized the move as disruptive. The visa agreement allowing Bosnian citizens to travel to Kosovo without visas, which Kurti announced for January 2025, is still pending ratification in Bosnia’s Parliament, where it faces opposition from RS representatives.
