New U.S. Ambassador to Albania Eric Wendt has officially taken up his post, as the U.S. Marine Corps raised the American flag at the ambassador’s official residence.

The U.S. Embassy in Tirana announced that the U.S. Marine Corps raised the American flag at the official residence to mark the beginning of Ambassador Wendt’s mission.

“A new chapter begins in Albania!” the U.S. Embassy said, highlighting the importance of strengthening the alliance between the two countries.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, our alliances are strongest when we stand together, share responsibilities and work toward a more prosperous and secure future for both our countries,” the embassy said.

Eric Wendt officially began his tenure as U.S. ambassador to Albania on September 26, when he presented his credentials to President Bajram Begaj.
