American Ambassador in Belgrade: Kosovo and Serbia are considering a Franco-German proposal

The Kosovo-Serbia talks have taken too long and it is time for progress as the West faces other important issues such as the war in Ukraine. This is what the American ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, said in an interview for the Voice of America.
Furthermore, Ambassador Hill said that the desire for progress was also reflected in the phone calls that Secretary of State Antony Blinken had with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the commitment of the national security advisors of France and Germany, who as it has been said, they have put on the table a proposal for an agreement between both parties.
“We support this proposal. But I can tell that the Europeans want this thing to move. Obviously, these are difficult issues, but it is important that both sides understand that there are other things going on in Europe, for example in Ukraine, and it is time for progress on this issue. I think that both President Vucic and Prime Minister Kurti agree to examine that proposal and see what can be done,” said Hill.
Neither Paris nor Berlin have spoken about the proposal which, according to the Serbian president, envisages that Serbia will allow Kosovo’s membership in the United Nations, but without recognizing its independence, while in exchange it will be offered the acceleration of Serbia membership in the European Union.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that various models are being discussed, but there is nothing final or decisive that could be said to be a Franco-German proposal. (Extracted from VOA)
