Archbishop Dodaj: Christmas Should Awaken Our Conscience

The head of the Tirana–Durrës Diocese, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj, shared a Christmas message focused on young people.

In a television interview, he said society must not see young people as numbers. He called for more time, care, and space for them, starting with state institutions.

He said modern society builds many structures but lacks human connection. He stressed that building schools is not enough without investing in educators and mentors. He warned that fear and indifference weaken responsibility toward youth.

Archbishop Dodaj also spoke about the spiritual meaning of Christmas. He said Christmas is God living among people, not above them. He described it as a moment of rebirth and a wake-up call for human conscience. He said the image of the Child Jesus shows love without force or pressure.

He also sent a message to all believers ahead of Christmas. He urged Albania to overcome social and political polarization. He called for greater spiritual, economic, and social well-being for everyone. He said prosperity must not remain a privilege for only a small part of society.

Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25, one of the most important feasts in the Christian calendar.
