Asllan Rusi was born in Tirana on October the 17-th, 1945. At a very young age he became one of the top volleyball players of Dinamo Tirana and the national team too.

As part of Dinamo volleyball team he left unforgettable and precious marks on the Albanian volleyball not only in Albania but abroad too.

His dynamic way of playing, very high jump and strong shoot, made him resistless to any adversary on the volleyball net.

For ten successive years, he was king of Albanian volleyball, together with his team mates, granting Dinamo championships and cups.

His play and features were also very much evident in international matches against wellknown European teams, like Dutch, Bulgarian, Romanian, Italian ones, etc.

Thanks to his physical features, sport discipline and of course of his team mates play too, Dinamo volleyball team was ranked among the four best of the continent.

70 kilograms, 185 centimeters tall, he played with Dinamo from 1960 to 1975. Rusi was selected several times among the “ten best sportsmen of the year”.

Asllan Rusi passed away by an incurable desease on January the 1-st 1983, at the age of 38. After his deatch, in a Survey by the Albanian newspaper “Sporti shqiptar” /Albanian Sport/, he was elected as “the volleyball player of the century”. The Palace of Sports in Tirana bears his name.
