The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro is in Prishtina, in a joint meeting with the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the mayors and tour operators of the two countries at the beginning of the summer season to discuss the challenges and opportunities for cooperation with joint tourist offers.

“We have brought together at a table for the first time three levels of cooperation: at the highest level of the two ministries, representatives of local authorities, ie with the mayors of municipalities from Kosovo and Albania. Without any dilemma, tourism coming to us from Kosovo is very important, not to mention the most important  fact that we have over 2 million tourists a year, but it is our duty as policy makers to respond to requests coming from the private sector of tourism. “We took note of the demands that we will address in the meeting of the two governments”, said Kumbaro.

At the press conference, Minister Kumbaro announced the launch of work on the joint digital platform, which will serve for promotion and tourism information in the two countries, a request made by tour operators during the meeting.

Minister Rozeta Hajdari said in her speech that Kosovo has also made tourism a priority and together with Albania, many opportunities for cooperation can be created.

“During 2021, visitors from Albania accounted for about 25% of the statistics of all foreign visitors who have visited Kosovo. We believe that this number between the two countries will increase, as we will continue to work on increasing activities between the two countries, be they promotion, other state organizations, but we will also work closely in organizing of tours and the creation of joint tourist offers Kosovo-Albania “, said among others Hajdari.

The visit of Minister Mirela Kumbaro in Kosovo, accompanied by the mayors of several Albanian municipalities and private tour operators, comes two weeks after the participation of the ministers of Kosovo and North Macedonia in the tour organized in the Gjirokastra region.
