Austria has welcomed Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe. That was  the statement issued by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

According to the APA news agency, Schallenberg stated that after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, “a new geostrategic position in Europe is required.”

He stated that this situation should be used to ensure a sustainable model of life in Europe. “This includes the admission of new members. We welcome Kosovo’s desire to become part of the Council of Europe,” said the Austrian chief diplomat.
