Blendi Gonxhja visited the village of Lekël in Tepelenë to inspect the restoration of the Church of Prophet Elijah. The church was damaged by fires last year.

He said the goal of the project is to return the monument to its original condition while preserving its historical and architectural value.

Specialists from the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Gjirokastër are carrying out the works. They are rebuilding the traditional roof, strengthening the structure, and restoring key architectural elements.

The Church of Prophet Elijah is recognized as a cultural monument due to its importance. Therefore, authorities are treating its restoration as a priority after the damage caused by the fires in southern Albania.
