“Autonom Fest” – The Folklore Festival of Korça Region

Korça hosted the regional folklore festival “Autonom Fest.” The Korça Regional Council organized the event, and artists from all municipalities in the region joined the celebration.
Firstly, the festival entered its second edition with new surprises. It has already grown into a local tradition and stands as one of the main activities held on December 10th, the day Korça was declared an Autonomous Region.
Additionally, Maria Furxhi, Communication and Technology Adviser at the Korça Regional Council, highlighted the strong artistic program. Performers showcased a wide range of traditional instruments, colorful costumes, and dancers and singers of all ages.
Furthermore, six ensembles participated: Kolonja, Pogradec, Devoll, Pustec, Korça, and Maliq. The festival also invited the Ensemble of Përrenjas as a guest group, especially since its children’s ensemble recently won at the “Etnokids” festival.
As a result, “Autonom Fest” continues to expand and aims to become a rotating festival, moving from one municipality to another. This approach helps preserve traditions and strengthens the region’s cultural identity.
In addition, the renowned artist Josif Minga served as artistic director. He composed the opening hymn, “The Song of Captain Themistokli.”
Finally, with direction by Blerta Belliu and choreography by Bardhi Pojani, the second edition offered improved stage presentation and attracted even greater public interest.
