Award-winning in the U.S., two Albanian filmmakers prepare film on Mother Teresa

Prime Minister Edi Rama hosted two Albanian filmmaker sisters, Vilma and Greta from Vlora, on his podcast “FLASIM – Episode 3, Season 6.” They live and work in Los Angeles, where they produce films.

First, Rama praised their journey. He called it a positive example of Albanian creative energy abroad. He said they turned passion for film into inspiration and positive impact.

Meanwhile, Vilma and Greta keep their cultural identity with pride. At the same time, they remain fully active in the U.S. film industry.

So far, the sisters have produced four films. In addition, they collaborate with Amazon Prime in the United States. They have also won awards at several international film festivals.

During the podcast, they revealed a new project. Currently, they are in Albania preparing a feature film about the life of Mother Teresa.

They said the script focuses on her early life and roots. Many people, they noted, think Mother Teresa was from India or Italy. Therefore, they want to show how she was shaped and where she came from.

Next, the filmmakers said they are reviewing several filming locations. These include Skopje and Shkodra. In particular, they highlighted Shkodra’s old architecture, which reflects the Ottoman period and preserves traditional houses.

Finally, Rama stressed that such stories prove the potential of Albanians everywhere. He underlined the key role of the diaspora in promoting Albania’s image worldwide.
