Begaj at NATO Mission in Prishtina: A Key Role in Ensuring Stability in Kosova and the Region

President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, today visited the NATO mission command, KFOR, in Prishtina.

During the visit, President Begaj met with the KFOR mission commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, as well as Albanian personnel serving with the mission.

The discussion with General Barduani focused on the security challenges Kosova faces, particularly in the north of the country and throughout the broader region.

President Begaj expressed his gratitude to General Barduani for his contributions and extended thanks to Italy for providing the largest contingent of troops in Kosova.

The President emphasized the critical importance of KFOR’s presence in maintaining peace and security in Kosova, underscoring the mission’s significant role in not only supporting Kosova but also contributing to stability across the Balkans.

Albania’s unwavering support for NATO and KFOR was reaffirmed, with President Begaj describing the mission as a “success story.” He also reiterated Albania’s readiness to increase troop contributions if necessary.

Albania contributes the largest number of personnel to KFOR among all the international missions where Albania has deployed military personnel. During his meeting with the Albanian troops, President Begaj, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, commended their commitment and dedication, which he views as a national priority. He stressed that their participation in KFOR supports peace, security, and the well-being of Kosova, which remains a key priority for Albania.

The President also noted the legal improvements reflecting the growing attention and support from institutions towards the Armed Forces.

“You represent the best of Albania because your actions, commitment, sense of responsibility, and contributions make us proud,” President Begaj stated.
