Begaj at the SEECP summit: Every initiative that strengthens regional cooperation is necessary

Albanian President Bajram Begaj participated today in the high-level summit of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) initiative, under the current Montenegrin presidency.
The meeting was organized by the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, in Podgorica, at the end of Montenegro’s presidency term of SEECP.
President Begaj, who headed the Albanian delegation at the high-level meeting, held a speech for those present, and gave a statement to the media too.
During the statement to the media, Begaj congratulated Montenegro for on its presidency of the SEECP, considering any initiative aiming at bringing closer and strengthening regional cooperation, necessary and indispensable.
“The very presence of the EU member states in this initiative, and the presence of EU representatives shows their support for Albania and for the other countries of the Western Balkans in the EU integration process and in their Euro-Atlantic journey,” Albanian president said.
Albanian head of state further added that the many challenges that the societies of the Western Balkans and the countries of South-Eastern Europe are facing are similar, so their solution requires joint commitment, by means of best practices and experiences.
Focusing on security challenges, President Begaj underlined that the security situation in Europe has changed due to the war in Ukraine.
“The focus of the EU on the Western Balkans has increased, it has been strengthened, and we as countries of the Western Balkans and South-Eastern Europe must cooperate better in facing the challenges that concern our peoples the most, such as the security, economic cooperation ones, and challenges related to energy, infrastructure, green agenda or digital transformation,” Begaj underscored.
Considering the summit as successful, the President further added that the challenges of the future can be faced only by being united and unified.
At the end of his speech, President Begaj congratulated North Macedonia for the future presidency of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process.
