Bilateral Cooperation and Dialogue with Serbia Focus of Meeting Between PM Kurti and U.S. Assistant Secretary James O’Brien

Prime Minister Albin Kurti and U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O’Brien had a meeting focusing their discussions on bilateral cooperation and dialogue with Serbia.

O’Brien was accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier. This marked O’Brien’s first visit to Kosovo since taking office and his second meeting with Kurti in a month.

“Prime Minister Kurti expressed appreciation for the historic role and ongoing support of the United States towards Kosovo and its people, as well as the close cooperation in energy, economy, finance, and security and defense. Following the recent Berlin Process Summit, the commitment, signed agreements, and adopted declarations were recognized as significant milestones, marking the 10th anniversary of the Berlin Process as a success in promoting regional cooperation and European integration,” stated the Prime Minister’s office.

Discussions also extensively covered relations with Serbia.

“The signing of the Basic Agreement is essential proof of Serbia’s goodwill and trust for swift implementation and full compliance with both the agreement and the Implementation Annex. Additionally, for legality, justice, peace, and security, the surrender of the terrorist Milan Radoiçiq and his paramilitary group is necessary,” the Prime Minister’s office announced.

Before the meeting in Kosovo, O’Brien and Angelina Eichhorst, the Director General of the European External Action Service, met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
