Blinken-Kurti: Immediate de-escalation in the north, mayors to work from alternative locations

The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, during a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, has requested the immediate de-escalation in the north, and the relocation of the four mayors of the municipalities of North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok , Leposavic and Zveçan, to alternative locations.
Secretary Blinken also reiterated US support for the EU’s three-point plan and thanked Prime Minister, Kurti for his participation in the June 22 leaders’ meeting in Brussels.
Kosovan Prime Minister, Kurti thanked Secretary Blinken for the continuous and comprehensive support of the US.
Kurti and Blinken have discussed holding new elections in the north of Kosova, where Prime Minister Kurti has pointed out that they should be preceded by the rule of law.
Kurti and Blinken have agreed to communicate regularly in order to maintain peace and security in Kosovo and to normalize relations with Serbia.
