Borrell: I condemn the attack, stop it immediately! Lajçak: The parties should return to dialogue

The head of the EU for foreign policy, Josep Borrell and the EU envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, have also reacted on the event recorded in the north of Kosova, where armed groups have attacked the Kosova Police, taking one officer lost his life, while another was injured.
Borell condemns “in the strongest terms” the attack, calling for it to be stopped immediately. He demands that the facts surrounding the attack be established and that the perpetrators responsible face justice.
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the ugly attack by an armed gang against Kosova policemen in Banjska in the north of Kosovo, which left one policeman dead and two injured. All facts surrounding the attack must be proven. The responsible authors must face justice,” writes Borell.
The EU foreign policy chief points out that more innocent lives are at risk while the attacks continue, as he adds that EULEX is on the ground and in contact with KFOR.
“More innocent lives are at risk in the ongoing hostilities around Banjska Monastery. These attacks must be stopped immediately. EULEX, as the second security responder, is on the ground and in close contact with the authorities and KFOR. The EU and its member states constantly call on all actors to work to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosova,” emphasizes Borrell.
Meanwhile, the European Special Envoy, Miroslav Lajçak strongly condemned the terrible attack against the Kosova Police. Lajçak says that it is time for Kosova and Serbia to return to dialogue.
“I strongly condemn the terrible attack against the Kosovo police last night. Violence of any form is absolutely unacceptable. My heart goes out to the victims, their families and colleagues. The perpetrators must be brought to justice. Everyone should return to the dialogue immediately,” writes Lajçak.
The serious event was recorded in the early hours of this Sunday morning (September 24) in North Mitrovica, at the entrance to the village of Banjska, where armed men blocked the road with trucks and then fired firearms and hand grenades at the Kosova Police. As a result, one officer lost his life and another was injured.
The government of Kosova has accused official Belgrade of being responsible for the attack.
The US ambassador in Kosova, Jeffrey Hovenier strongly condemned the attacks, demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
