British Ambassador Hargreaves presses for swift political stability in Kosovo

The United Kingdom has delivered a clear and direct message to the political leadership in Kosovo. London calls for a swift exit from the current political instability.
Jonathan Hargreaves, the British ambassador in Pristina, stressed the urgent need to end the deadlock. Otherwise, he warned, the country risks losing momentum in international processes and domestic reforms.
The message came after an official meeting with Vjosa Osmani, President of Kosovo.
After the meeting, Ambassador Hargreaves issued a public statement. He said institutional normality is not just a request from international partners. Instead, it is an absolute necessity for Kosovo’s near future. Prolonged political tensions, he added, could block key national initiatives.
“Today I spoke with President Vjosa Osmani about the urgent need for Kosovo to return to political stability, so that progress can continue on both domestic and international agendas,” Hargreaves said.
Call for constructive political dialogue
At the same time, the British diplomat urged all political actors to lower tensions. He called for reason and responsibility in the public debate.
According to Hargreaves, crises cannot be solved through polarization. Instead, they require sincere engagement and political maturity.
“In this period of increased political uncertainty, respectful and constructive political discussion is vital to finding a way forward,” he emphasized.
