The Central State Film Archive (AQSHF) today congratulated actor Reshat Arbana, Honor of the Nation, on his 85th birthday.

“On this anniversary, we celebrate him with love and gratitude,” said AQSHF director Eljan Tanini in a social media post. “He did not just play roles—he touched our lives with his sincere art.” He also announced that the archive will screen the documentary Përballë, me Reshat Arbanën at its cinema today.

Reshat Arbana remains one of Albania’s most beloved figures. He contributed greatly to both film and theater. He brought to life over 40 characters in cinema and hundreds on stage. Arbana became a living symbol of the Albanian spirit, bravery, pain, resistance, and love for the country.

Some of his most notable roles include: Islami in Duel i Heshtur (Anagnosti, 1967), Samiu in Fije që Priten (1976), the Prefect in Gjeneral Gramafoni (Gjika, 1978), Bimbashi in Liri a Vdekje (Muçaj & Mitro, 1979), Isa Boletini in Nëntori i Dytë (Gjika, 1982), Ahmeti in Dora e Ngrohtë (Çashku, 1983), Adnani in Hije që Mbeten Pas (Musliu, 1985), Aliu in Binarët (Fejzo, 1987), Emili in Rikonstruksioni (Kasaj, 1988), and Kukë Memini in Balada e Kurbinit (Çashku, 1990).

He won Festival Medallions in 1985 and 1987 for his roles as Dajlan Beu in Kush Vdes në Këmbë (Prifti, 1984) and the Council Chairman in Kur Hapen Dyert e Jetës (Ljarja, 1986).
