Today marks the birthday of Ksenofon Dilo, a distinguished Albanian artist known as “the Albanian Cubist.” Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, honored Dilo on social media, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to Albanian art over seven decades.

Born on January 15, 1932, in Topovë, Gjirokastër, Dilo excelled as a painter, costume designer, researcher, and film scenarist. He was celebrated for his geometric landscapes and innovative style, earning him the title “Merited Painter” in 1969.

Notable achievements include his scenography for the National Folklore Festival in Gjirokastër, work on the film Fortuna, and illustrations of Ismail Kadare’s literary works. Despite occasional rejection due to his cubist tendencies, Dilo’s legacy remains a cornerstone of Albanian art.
