Christmas Mass held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Tirana

TIRANA, December 25 – Catholic believers attended the Christmas Mass at midnight at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Tirana. The service marked the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Archbishop Arjan Dodaj led the Mass as head of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Tirana–Durrës. In his message, he highlighted hope, faith, and light in a world facing uncertainty and conflict.
He explained that the light of Christmas did not impose itself but gently guided humanity through history. He added that believers continued to walk with joy and hope despite human disappointment because the Savior was born for them.
At the same time, Archbishop Dodaj referred to the difficult reality experienced by many people due to wars and crises. He stressed that Christmas carried a living message of hope, peace, and closeness between God and humanity. He also recalled that Jesus remained both God and brother for believers.
Meanwhile, hundreds of worshippers filled the cathedral. They welcomed midnight through prayers and religious hymns, marking the symbolic moment of Christ’s birth.
Christmas remained one of the most important celebrations for Catholic and Orthodox believers. Catholics marked the occasion with the midnight Mass. Orthodox believers celebrated the holiday on the morning of 25 December.
Earlier, churches across the country also held festive Masses. These celebrations took place within Albania’s six Catholic dioceses.
