Closure of Post Offices in the North: Rohde Warns that Kosovo’s EU Membership Application Risks Staying in the ‘Inbox’

The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, has reacted to the closure of nine facilities operated by the Serbian Post in northern Kosovo.
Ambassador Rohde stated that unilateral and uncoordinated actions not only contradict the agreements of the dialogue but also risk leaving Kosovo’s EU membership application in the “inbox.”
“Unilateral and uncoordinated steps not only contradict the dialogue agreements but -even worse- risk Kosovo’s EU membership application remaining stuck in the inbox. The EU thrives on taking all members and their communities along, and we need the same approach at the national level” Ambassador Jorn Rohde wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The U.S. government has also expressed disappointment with the “unilateral and uncoordinated actions taken by the Government of Kosovo against Serbian post branches in northern Kosovo.”
