Conference on the Future of US-Kosova Relations Kicks Off Today

The international conference “The Future of US-Kosova Relations and Public Diplomacy” is being held today at the prestigious Elliott School of International Affairs at the American University, known for its focus on international studies and diplomacy.
The conference aims to foster an in-depth discussion on the US-Kosova relationship, the role of public diplomacy, and its potential impact on Kosova’s future. Organized by Jeta Abazi Gashi from the University of Prishtina in collaboration with Professor Babak Bahador, the event is supported by the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at the Elliott School. It gathers renowned experts from the fields of politics, diplomacy, international relations, media, and the arts.
The first panel, titled “US-Kosova Relations and Public Diplomacy,” will feature Elez Biberaj, former director of the Eurasia Division at Voice of America; Pëllumb Kelmendi, Associate Professor of Political Science at Auburn University; and Drilona Emrullahu, economist at the World Bank. The discussion will focus on the 25-year history of US-Kosova relations.
The second panel, “The Future of US-Kosova Relations and Public Diplomacy,” will examine the evolving trajectory of the relationship in an increasingly polarized global environment. Panelists include Ilir Dugolli, Ambassador of Kosovo to the US; Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Relations at Georgetown University; and Jeta Abazi-Gashi, Fulbright researcher at George Washington University (from the University of Prishtina).
The third panel, “Peacebuilding (Art, Media, and Politics),” will explore long-term prospects for peace and stability in Kosova. Participants will include Sislej Xhafa, Kosovar artist based in New York; Elizabeth Hume, Executive Director of the Peacebuilding Alliance; and Gëzim Visoka, Associate Professor at Dublin City University (DCU).
