David Cameron with the Kosovan counterpart in Prishtina: We strongly support the sovereignty of Kosova

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosova, Donika Gërvalla received her British counterpart, David Cameron, in a meeting, during the visit the later is taking in Prishtina.

After the meeting, the Kosovan chief-diplomat said in a media conference that she thanked her counterpart for the continuous support that the United Kingdom has provided for Kosova before and after the war.

Gërvalla underscored that it is an honor and a pleasure to host her British counterpart in Kosova.

 “I informed Lord Cameron about the extraordinary development of Kosova in various fields, and especially in that of the rule of law and the strengthening of democracy in the country during 2023, highlighting at the same time the challenges we faced. I thanked him for the continuous support that the United Kingdom has provided for Kosova before and after the war, while highlighting the central role the UK played in stopping the Serbian genocide in Kosova during 1998-1999,” said the Kosovan minister of Foreign Affairs.

While informing him on the September 24 attack against Kosova last year’s, as act of open aggression, I expressed deep gratitude for the immediate response and determination shown by the United Kingdom and the allocation of additional troops with a clear mandate, evaluating this as a necessary signal for maintaining peace and stability not only in Kosova but also in the entire region”.

The British minister of Foreign Affairs, David Cameron said that he was in Prishtina to express the support, assistance and promotion from Great Britain for the state of Kosova.

“We talked this morning about security and the importance of the contribution we can make in this direction, considering the great role we have within KFOR…,” he said.

“We are strong supporters of Kosova’s independence and sovereignty…,” said the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, adding that they will also work for a as greater as possible internationalization of Kosova.

According to him, stability in the Western Balkans is very important and Great Britain has invested a lot in this direction.

Cameron announced that they also talked about the training of some Kosova Security Force (KSF) members in the United Kingdom, economic issues, the fight against corruption, etc.

The day before, Cameron also met with Kosovan Prime Minister Albin Kurti, while he is expected to meet President Vjosa Osmani too.
