“Dea Open Air 2024,” Mirela Oktrova: This year’s program offers 39 films from 25 countries around the world

The 11th edition of the International Film Festival “Dea Open Air” is coming back to Tirana, bringing films that make you think for all cinema lovers. The director of this festival, Mirela Oktrova, explains more about this edition.
“The motto of this year is ‘we turn off the lights to open our eyes’ because this is what cinema does, it takes us to another reality when the lights go down to connect us with other communities, to share our emotions with them, to learn from them, and why not, to bring to life what we learn through cinema. This year’s program offers 39 films from 25 countries in 3 sections. In the short film section, where 6 films compete, in the student film section where 11 films compete, and in the short film section where 19 films compete,” said Oktrova.
Meanwhile, this year there is also a new section for films from Kosovo.
“To these three sections is added the ‘like in time’ section, which focuses on Kosovar cinema, within which 3 films are offered this year,” Oktrova explained.
She mentions that the only issue is the audience, which, according to her, comes from several factors, and it is necessary for the Albanian audience to be educated and to follow cinema even outside their home.
