Dialogue for Normalizing Relations: Bislimi and Petković Meet Today in Brussels

The chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petković, are meeting today in Brussels as part of the EU-mediated dialogue aimed at normalizing relations.
EU spokesperson Peter Stano announced that at the top of the agenda will be the urgent implementation of the Agreement on the Path to Normalization of Relations.
The agreement was reached last year but has not been implemented.
Among other things, it requires Kosovo to provide a level of self-management to the Serbian community, while Serbia must not obstruct Kosovo’s membership in international organizations.
To discuss its implementation, last week in Brussels, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, were also summoned.
However, Kurti set several conditions for the continuation of the dialogue, including the signing of the agreement and the extradition of Milan Radoičić, which Vučić did not accept.
Radoičić took responsibility for organizing an armed attack in Kosovo last September, in which a police officer was killed.
He is believed to be at large in Serbia.
Expectations for Bislimi and Petković to agree on anything significant are low.
Several rounds of talks between them regarding the banning of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo ended in May without any agreement.
The normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is a prerequisite for both to advance on the path to European integration.
