Distria Krasniqi ended 2025 at the top of the world judo rankings, confirming her status as Kosovo’s best athlete.

The European champion and World Championship finalist called the season very successful despite challenges along the way. “This year has been excellent for me. In every competition, I reached the podium,” Krasniqi told EJU in an interview.

The Peja judoka highlighted that the key to her success is starting fresh every time, regardless of past medals. “It doesn’t matter if I win an Olympic gold or a European title. I try to forget it and give 100% in every match,” she said, emphasizing the crucial role of coach Driton Kuka in analyzing every detail.

Looking ahead, Krasniqi said her motivation comes from her love for the sport, not pressure. “I try not to think about others’ expectations. What matters is that I am satisfied with my performance,” the world No. 1 said. She aims for the European and World Championships as her main goals for next season.
