The European Union says that early elections should be announced as soon as possible and be inclusive in Kosovo. The fastest way to elections is the resignation of the mayors, according to the European Union.

“As the EU has already shown, the April local elections do not offer long-term political solutions for these municipalities. The EU calls on all actors to work towards an urgent political solution for a sustainable representative participatory democracy in these municipalities. Early elections should be called for and announced as soon as possible and organized in a fully inclusive manner. The resignations of mayors are the fastest way to instigate early elections, while both parties must show constructiveness in carrying out the elections”, it is said for TCh

Meanwhile, the protests of the Serbs are criticized, saying that they are not the way to a solution, while they expect the Serbs to participate in the elections and return to the institutions.

“The continuation of the protests against the new mayors without starting the new local elections in the 4 municipalities, either with resignation or with petitions for withdrawal, is not the way forward.

The EU expects the elections to be free and fair and the Kosovo Serbs to show constructive engagement in the electoral process, as well as to commit to participate in them. This would be a clear sign of the intention of the Kosovo Serbs to return to the institutions of Kosovo”, it is further stated.
