EC Commissioner Kos postpones visit to Kosova due to recent political developments

TIRANA, 10 March 2026 – European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos canceled her planned visit to Kosova due to recent political developments, European Commission officials confirmed. They added that Commissioner Kos informed Prime Minister Albin Kurti of her decision.
The Commissioner aims to travel to Prishtina as soon as possible, the Commission’s press office told RTK.
The visit was scheduled for midweek. Kosova remains the only country in her portfolio that she has not yet visited since taking office in December 2024.
Last year, an institutional crisis in Kosova prevented her visit. Following the 28 December elections, she announced that she would visit once the institutions formed.
The visit was also intended to coincide with the announcement on the lifting of measures against Kosova.
Meanwhile, European officials expressed regret over the recent political developments in Kosova. They said they would not comment further while awaiting the Constitutional Court’s final decision.
