Environment Minister Jaupaj calls for concrete water projects

Environment Minister Sofjan Jaupaj took part in the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum in Rome, Italy. He presented Albania’s priorities for a more sustainable water future in Europe and the Mediterranean together with representatives of the European Commission and the Union for the Mediterranean.
At the panel on a new European vision for water, Jaupaj highlighted the contribution Albania and EU candidate countries can make through reforms, stronger institutions and investments to protect water resources. He said these efforts can also improve preparedness for floods and droughts. Jaupaj called for stronger cooperation among the European Union, the Western Balkans and Mediterranean partners to turn shared priorities into concrete projects for citizens and ecosystems by 2030.
Meanwhile, Jaupaj met Charles Calestroupat, Microsoft’s vice president for Southern Europe. They discussed digital transformation in water resources management and the National Water Resources Cadastre. Jaupaj presented the cadastre as a concrete step toward integrating data and building a more modern and efficient water administration.
