The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar had meetings with the president Vjosa Osmani and the prime minister Albin Kurti, whom he met together with the Slovak emissary, Miroslav Lajcak.

Escobar, in a statement to the media, said that the Kosovar leaders assured him that they do not want the situation to escalate on September 1, the day when the implementation of the measure of reciprocity for license plates and entry-exit documents begins.

“They assured us that they don’t want any escalation, they don’t want violence on September 1. So now we are here today to make sure that all those good wishes and all that optimism are translated into the good of the country”, Escobar stated.

Escobar was accompanied in these meetings by the envoy of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak. Both of them are having meetings with the leaders of the opposition parties at the EU office in Pristina.
