The European Union is ready to welcome Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti to Brussels for a meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic, provided that, as EU spokesperson Peter Stano said, they show a European attitude.
Stano mentioned the “serious” situation created in the north of the country after the resignation of the Serbs from the institutions of Kosovo and emphasized that both sides, both Kosovo and Serbia, have the responsibility of finding a way out of the current crisis.

“We remain committed to welcoming Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic to Brussels, for a higher-level meeting, as soon as they are ready to show European behavior and the will to seek a European solution to mutual problems. This is a responsibility of both parties. The work continues, even without all the procedural details being made known, we are committed to helping them find a solution. But the European Union cannot be the most interested in finding a solution, it should be them themselves,” said Peter Stano.

A day ago, the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said that Kosovo and Serbia should urgently continue the dialogue to find a solution before November 21, when fines will be imposed in the north for people who do not use RKS license plates in their vehicles. Borrell gave the warning after the meeting with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU member states in Brussels.
