The European Union stated on Wednesday that Serbia has violated its obligations from the Brussels dialogue by approving a draft law concerning Serbian judicial jurisdiction in Kosovo and designating Kosovo as a “special social protection zone.”

Earlier this week, the Serbian government announced the approval of this draft law, which it described as regulating the organization and authority of Serbian judicial bodies to prosecute criminal offenses committed in Kosovo.

On Wednesday, EU spokesperson Nabila Massralli emphasized that Serbia’s actions contradict its commitments made in the dialogue with Kosovo under EU mediation. 

“The draft laws published by the Serbian government clearly violate Serbia’s obligations from the dialogue and are at odds with its recent reaffirmation of commitment to the dialogue,” Massralli stated.
