EU Urges Kosova to Form Institutions and Implement Association to Avoid Self-Isolation

The European Union called on Kosova to quickly form new institutions and implement the Association of Serbian-majority municipalities. It warned that ignoring this advice risks isolating Kosova.

EU ambassadors from four member states stressed the need for a functional government to advance reforms and dialogue with Serbia.

EU Ambassador Aivo Orav said Kosova has the potential to move toward EU integration but warned that comparing itself to other countries does not help. He said Kosova must establish the Association soon. He added the EU has started lifting measures against Kosovo but stressed the need for close cooperation.

German Ambassador Jorn Rohde expressed concern over the political deadlock harming Kosova’s democracy. He urged politicians to put the state first and form institutions urgently to make tough decisions.

French Ambassador Olivier Guerot said Kosova is not isolated unless it chooses to isolate itself by ignoring its partners and breaking commitments. He urged Kosova to listen to its friends.

Dutch Ambassador Karin Boven said forming a new government is essential to turn EU integration commitment into real results.

These calls come as Kosova’s parliament remains deadlocked, with parties blaming each other ahead of Thursday’s 23rd session.
