EU Urges Kosovo Parties to Respect Constitutional Court Decision

The European Union Office in Pristina has called on all political parties to respect the Constitutional Court’s decision on resolving the country’s political deadlock.
In a Facebook post, the EU Office stated that the Court has spoken and provided important clarifications regarding the formation of the new Assembly.
Therefore, the EU urged all political parties represented in the Kosovo Assembly to comply with the decision. They must find compromise and secure the necessary majority to quickly proceed with electing the Assembly’s Speaker and Deputy Speakers. “There is no more time to waste in a political stalemate,” the EU Office stressed.
Earlier today, the Constitutional Court ruled that the ninth legislature must be constituted within 30 days. The Speaker must be elected through an open vote. Moreover, a single candidate for the position can only be voted on three times.
