European Parliament approves visa liberalization for Kosovo

The Commission for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament, on January 12, approved the visa liberalization agreement for Kosovo.

It is about the agreement that was reached last December between the Parliament, the Council and the Presidency of the European Union, which at that time was led by the Czech Republic.

The approval of the agreement in this EP committee proves that the formalization of the decision of the European bloc on the liberalization of visas for Kosovo is going according to the plan and relevant procedures, which include various EU institutions.

The EP has appointed the socialist deputy from the Netherlands, Thijs Reuten, as its rapporteur for the file related to the liberalization of visas for Kosovo.

Reuten has stated several times that the European Parliament will work at maximum speed for this process, which, as he said, has already lasted too long.

EU diplomats have said that only the formal part of the decision remains to be concluded, as the Czech Presidency had successfully completed the main work in December of last year.
