Faik Konica’s House in Greece Set for Restoration as Albania, Greece Deepen Cultural Ties

Restoration work on the house of Albanian writer and diplomat Faik Konica in Konitsa, Greece, will begin soon after Greek authorities secured funding and recognized the property’s historical and cultural value. Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced the plan after meeting his Greek counterpart, Lina Mendoni, in Prespa.

The two ministers also discussed returning two archaeological artefacts from Butrint that Greek authorities seized in 2002. They explored further cooperation to protect cultural heritage, restore the Church of St. Nicholas in Mesopotam and its murals, and support archaeological research at the ancient site of Phoenice.

Albania and Greece also plan to expand cooperation through restoration projects, professional training and exchanges between their national theatres and opera houses. The talks focused on protecting shared heritage and developing joint cultural initiatives.
