Filip Ivanović: Advancing Excellent Relations and Joint EU-Oriented Projects

Montenegro’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Filip Ivanović, met with his Albanian counterpart, Igli Hasani, who is on a 3-day tour of the region.

During a joint press conference, Ivanović expressed satisfaction with the visit of Albania’s Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, considering it a confirmation of the strong interstate relations between the two countries.

Ivanović stated, “The visit is a confirmation of the closeness between our peoples and countries, providing an added impulse for high-level political dialogue. Today, we discussed bilateral relations, regional cooperation, the crucial European perspective, and the NATO alliance.”

The Montenegrin minister emphasized that these areas of cooperation interconnect common interests, projects, and plans. The shared commitment of the two ministries is to contribute to the growth of strong bilateral relations, the development of both societies, and progress toward the European perspective.

Moreover, Ivanović remarked that “In the bilateral plan, we intensively cooperate based on the shared obligations arising from NATO membership. Minister Filip Ivanović of Montenegro expressed appreciation for the traditional and excellent relations between our two countries, emphasizing their significant dynamism.”

“In my discussion with my Albanian counterpart, I stressed that one of our priorities is active and credible participation in the NATO alliance. I also emphasized our full commitment to European integration, highlighting the need to leverage our position as a “leader” in this process and take joint steps toward EU accession,” added Ivanović.

Ivanović also underlined that, “The success of a country is good news for all countries that aspire to be part of the union.”

Further, the minister clarified some of the points discussed with the Albanian counterpart, Mr. Hasani.

Furthermore, we discussed regional cooperation and the importance of maintaining security among neighbors. A secure region is a prerequisite for the continued progress of individual countries and the entire region in shaping our collective future. Therefore, it is crucial that any outstanding issues between our countries are resolved in the spirit of European cooperation.

Confirming the excellent relations between the two friendly countries, Minister of Montenegro, Filip Ivanović, highlighted that “an important aspect of our relations is the advancement of the rights of minority peoples in the territory of our two countries. As we have demonstrated great commitment to this in the past, we will continue in this manner.“

In conclusion, the advancement of the implementation of joint projects between our countries was confirmed. “We have also discussed the advancement of economic relations between our countries, guided by the mutual interest in strengthening economic ties. We will focus on the implementation of joint projects, especially those resulting from previously signed agreements,” concluded Minister Filip Ivanović of Montenegro.
